First software digital Grower App live!

Dümmen Orange is investing in new innovative digital services for its customers as part of our Digital Marketing and Sales strategy. Via a Grower App we want to open a direct channel with our customers to support them in growing Dümmen Orange crops.

Marcel Vrijman, Product Owner Digital, gives us the latest news on this project "A prototype of this mobile app is designed and validated with customers in North America. Their feedback was very positive. Customers liked the ‘growing guides’ per variety, which guides them with quick tips and ideal grow strategies per variety to give an example of one of the many features that were validated (see Example Grow Strategy.png). If we combine these data with available data from our catalogues, we can support growers better in (start to) growing these crops."

"Next to building the app itself, we also have to build new data sources and digitize our knowledge so the app can use these data. One of these new data sources - the Data Acquisition Tool - was delivered in week 51 by our supplier Eleven. This tool helps us to start digitalizing our knowledge. The Data Acquisition Tool supports our internal product experts in defining grow strategies per variety. A grow strategy tells our customers the range and the recommended values for 7 identified parameters during the 3 grow phases: Rooting, Vegetative and Flowering. The software to store these parameters is now available."

"After a demo, we started to fill in the data with our product experts for the crops: Kalanchoe, Phalaenopsis and Pot Chrysanthemum (see photo). From now on, this tool (DAT) is available for other crops too. As we have to fill out a lot of data points, we came up with a smart solution to 'copy/paste' these parameters in a way that it’s not consuming too much of your valuable time."
